Abstract

1292533 Syringes GREINER ELECTRONIC A G 20 Aug 1970 [27 Aug 1969] 40222/70 Heading F1R [Also in Division B1] In apparatus for transferring liquid, a nozzle 7 of a metering device 5 is moved between a rest position and a delivery position 7<SP>1</SP> through an opening 10 provided in a housing 9. As shown, a moving arm 11, having the nozzle 7 at one end and a cross-member 13 at the other, is actuated by a pinion 16 which meshes with two gears 14, 15 so causing the cross-member 13, pinned to both gears, to describe an arcuate movement, in an alternative embodiment the movement may be elliptical. In operation, the piston 4 draws liquid through 7, 6 from a constant level container 1 and the arm 11 moves the nozzle to the delivery position 7<SP>1</SP> where the piston 4 discharges the liquid into a receiving vessel 17. A cover 12 may be provided on the arm 11 to ensure that the interior of housing 9 remains uncontaminated when not in use. The housing may have a thermostat and be heat insulated, dust and light tight and an additional cover may be provided on the inner end of arm 11. A plurality of devices for independantly dispensing different liquids may be provided in a common housing and, if a liquid evaporates quickly a discharge pipe may be provided such that vapours or condensed fluid may be drawn off from the interior of the housing.
