Abstract

1292202 Lens grinding SOC DES LUNETIERS 23 Jan 1970 [24 Jan 1969] 3450/70 Heading B3D [Also in Division G2] In grinding ophthalmic lenses each having one principal meridian which is circular and of which intersections through planes perpendicular to the circle at each one of its points are identical to the other principal meridian, the latter being determined in its plane by the condition of maintaining the tangential focal power within a range of Œ0À15D of its value on the optical axis of the lens, the lens blanks 20, Fig. 8, are secured to a rotatably driven carrier wheel 10. In a diametral plane 30 a grinding wheel 40 is driven about its axis 50 and is responsive to translatory movements 60 of a roller 70 whose path is guided by a cam 80 having the appropriate contour for the selected meridian, the cam 80 being adjustable in its plane for selecting the radius of the circular meridian. The axis 50 is not necessarily perpendicular to plane 30.
