1291996 Reciprocating conveyers METALLURGIE HOBOKEN 28 Oct 1969 [28 Oct 1968 52684/69 Heading B8A In apparatus for handling copper bars of trapezoidal cross-section the bars are conveyed to an area where they are turned, by movable supports, to present each face for inspection, the apparatus also including means for sorting the bars after inspection. As shown, an inspection station comprises stationary girders 5 to which bars 1 are fed down an incline 2. Between the girders are angle supports 6-9 which are rotatably mounted on a frame F vertically movable by means of a scissors assembly 16, 16<SP>1</SP>. The frame F also mounts an assembly 25-29 for discharging a bar 1 either on to an upper rollerway 30 or a lower rollerway 31. Assuming the apparatus and bars to be as shown in Fig. 2, upon actuation of an hydraulic cylinder C1, the frame F is raised above the girders 5 and the bars 1a-1e are lifted therefrom, Fig. 3 (not shown). Raising of the frame F causes actuation of an hydraulic cylinder C2, which rotates the supports 6-9 and turns the bars 1a-1d through 90 degrees. The frame F is then allowed to fall, the bars 1a-1d are redeposited on the girders 5 and the supports 6-9 are returned to their original positions, ready for a further turning cycle. Depending upon a manual control D2 and raising or lowering of a section 35 of the upper rollerway 30, the bar 1e passes on to the rollerway 30, Fig. 4 (not shown) or on to the rollerway 31, Fig. 6 (not shown).
