Abstract

1291875 Hearing aids; radio signalling; inductive signalling E ST BARBE SYDENHAM 24 Nov 1970 [2 Dec 1969] 58717/69 Headings H4J H4L and H4U In a hearing aid system, e.g. for classroom use, sounds picked up by a microphone-transmitter 10 are converted into electric signals which are radiated as V.H.F./F.M. signals. The aerial 12 of a V.H.F. radio receiver 11 carried by a deaf person picks up the radiated signals. Corresponding audio output signals are applied by a lead 14 to a coil 15. The coil 15 inductively couples the audio signals to a deaf aid 17 having an earpiece 19. The deaf aid 17, in addition to receiving signals from the radio receiver 11, receives through its microphone sounds generated close to the wearer. Coil 15 may be detachable from the deaf aid 17 and may be enclosed in a moulded plastics sheath 16. Alternatively the coil 15 is built into the deaf aid. The lead 14 is connected with the radio receiver 11 and/or coil 15 by a plug and socket connection.
