Abstract

129,174. Steer, F. E. Sept. 23, 1918. Foot rests or boards for motor-cycles &c. are hinged at one end about a relatively stationary pin and supported towards the other end through the medium of a leaf spring from the hinge-pin or a part carried thereon. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the footboard is rotatably mounted at the front upon a pin B fitted with an adjustable arm C carrying a projection C<3>, a laminated spring D fixed to the rear portion of the board being arranged at its front end to bear upon the projection. In a modification the board is rotatable upon a sleeve which is adjustable upon the fixed hinge-pin, the thick end of a laminated spring being bolted to the sleeve and the thin rear end arranged to bear upon a roller on the underside of the board; stops are provided to limit the downward motion of the board.
