Abstract

1291355 Repairing foundry ladles KONINKLIJKE NEDERLANDSCHE HOOGOVENS EN STAALFABRIEKEN NV 27 Oct 1970 [28 Oct 1969] 51073/70 Heading F4B A ladle or other vessel for molten metal is repaired while still at a temperature above the evaporation point of the binder of the refractory repairing mix by projecting a stream of the refractory mix in a direction parallel to the wall of the ladle, deflecting the stream towards the wall at the zone requiring repair, and moving the sand slinger relative to the ladle wall. A slinger 45 is supported above a ladle 1 rotated on a turntable 2. The discharge outlet 8 of the slinger is directed to discharge downwardly parallel to the ladle wall, and a curved deflecting tube 9 with its outlet directed towards the ladle wall is telescopically connected to the outlet tube 8 so that it may be moved up and down. The slinger 5 may be moved radially of the ladle. The repairing mix may be sand and water.
