Abstract
1290867 Electrically heatable glass sheets COMPAGNIE DE SAINT-GOBAIN 29 Sept 1969 [27 Sept 1968] 47700/69 Heading C1M [Also in Division H5] An electrically heatable glass sheet 32 comprises a glass sheet having on a surface thereof two or more electrically conductive strips 33 which are of equal width but different lengths and which have different resistances per unit length such that the resistance of each strip is the same. Thus the thickness of each strip may be varied, or the composition of the strip may be varied. The strips comprise a mixture of a metal, e.g. silver or copper powder, and a lowmelting glass frit, optionally with the addition of TiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 or SnO. Such a composition may be applied as a suspension in a binding agent, e.g. silk screen oil or turpentine, and subsequently the sheet is baked to fuse the strips to the glass. The glass frit preferably comprises 20-60% by weight of the composition. A layer of metal, e.g. copper, may be electrodeposited over the strips The stripe may be applied by means of a toothed wheel (Fig. 3) to which suspension is supplied from a reservoir 17, one or more such devices being mounted on a frame 23 and being urged against the surface of the glass sheet by spring 26. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,145,367.
