Abstract
1290462 Winding wire HUTTENWERK OBERHAUSEN AG 28 May 1971 [4 Aug 1970] 18090/71 Heading B3E The position of a laying tube 5 mounted on a rotating loop layer 4, when a sheared end of a wire emerges from its mouth, can be regulated to prevent snagging of the wire end on a conveyer 7 during the formation of overlapping wire loops 1 on the conveyer. Shears 9 are allowed to be operated by a controller 10 when a signal has been received (a) from a photo-cell 11, the signal having been delayed by an adjustable timer 12 to allow the necessary cropping length at the start of the wire, and (b) from a stationary device 13, actuated by a member 14 mounted on the loop layer 4, the signal being delayed by an adjustable timer 15 so that the wire end emerges when the laying tube 5 is in the required position. When one quadrant of the loop layer is required to be blocked against wire emergence the shears 9 are allowed to operate by the controller 10 when (a) release is obtained from a timer 15a, which blocks release for a certain: adjustable period corresponding to a certain quadrant of the loop layer, coupled to the device 13. The signal from the device 13 is delayed by the adjustable timer 15 until the blocked quadrant of the loop layer has reached the desired position, and (6) the photo-cell 11 has transmitted its signal through the timer 12.
