Abstract
1290343 Indene derivatives YAMANOUCHI PHARMACEUTICAL CO Ltd 12 Nov 1969 [12 Nov 1968 11 Sept 1969] 55448/69 Heading C2C 4 - (3 - Alkylamino - 2 - hydroxypropoxy) indenes and their salts are prepared by (a) condensing 4-hydroxyindene with a 1-halo-2- hydroxy-3-alkylaminopropane or (b) condensing 4 - (2,3 - epoxypropoxy)indene with an alkylamine, optionally followed in each case by salt formation. The alkyl groups contain 1-6 carbon atoms. The preparation of 4-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)- indene is described. The compounds of the invention are #- adrenergic blocking agents, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
