1290306 Magnetic recording and playback MULLARD Ltd 27 May 1971 17533/71 Heading G5R A magnetic recording surface and a bearing surface of a different material rotate together about the same axis, and a magnetic head is resiliently biased towards the recording surface so that a bearing pad mounted with the head is in contact with the bearing surface. As shown, a magnetic drum is clamped between and rotates with two polished steel discs 3 which provide bearing surfaces for pads 5 (of P.T.F.E. containing carbon particles) supporting a magnetic head 8.
