Abstract

1289912 Measuring speeds electrically ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 6 May 1971 [13 May 1970] 13495/71 Heading G1N [Also in Division G4] The ratio of the rotational speeds of a powered and an unpowered axle of a vehicle e.g. a tractor, is measured by an electronic ratio meter comprising two tachometer generators 11, 12, whose output frequencies are proportional to the two speeds, these outputs being fed to pulse shaper circuits 13, 13<SP>1</SP> producing pulse trains of corresponding frequencies and fixed pulse width which are fed to an analogue divider circuit 20 giving an output signal proportional to the ratio being measured. As shown each pulse shaper comprises an amplifier 14, 15, a Schmitt trigger 16, 17 and a monostable multivibrator 18, 19. The two pulse trains are fed on lines 25, 26 to a divider stage 20 comprising an operational amplifier 22 with two inputs 30, 31 and an output 32. A feedback loop 40 includes a multiplier 21 having an output connected to the input 30, and two inputs one of which is connected to the line 25. The output 32 is connected by an amplifier 23 to a meter or a control device 24 for operating a plough. Let U x , U y and U z be the signals at 27, 31 and 32 respectively. Therefore the inputs to the multiplier 21 are U x and U z and its output is U x .U z which is fed to input 30. If α is the gain of the amplifier 22 then and hence If αU z ” 1 then In the circuit for the divider stage 20 disclosed in Fig. 2 (not shown), the multiplier comprises a transistor 42 in the feedback loop of an amplifier 22. Phase reversal for the signal U y is effected by a transistor 41. A further embodiment Fig. 3 (not shown) includes a further operational amplifier in order to match the output signal with the control device the feedback loop being taken from the output of this amplifier. A transistor circuit diagram for the pulse shaper comprising amplifier 14, Schmitt trigger 16 and monostable vibrator 18 is disclosed, Fig. 4 (not shown).
