1289700 Off-shore structures POLENSKY & ZOLLNER 16 Dec 1969 [20 Dec 1968] 61281/69 Heading E1H A walking drilling-platform has working stage comprising a pair of elements 16 and 17a, 17b, 17c that are supported by verticallymovable legs 12, 13 and movable horizontally relative to each other by hydraulic piston-andcylinder units 20. The elements normally occupy the position shown in Fig. 2 with all of the legs resting on the bottom. To shift the platform to a new site the legs 13 are raised, the element 16 is moved along slideways 18 in the other element, the legs 13 are lowered and the legs 12 raised, and finally the other element is brought up to the Fig. 2 position. This sequence can be repeated as many times as necessary and may be reversed to propel the platform in the opposite direction. In another embodiment, Figs. 4 to 7 (not shown), the portion 17c is dispensed with and the portions 17a, 17b are joined at their ends by elevated members (22) that allow the element 16 to pass under them. The elements may be buoyant.
