Abstract

1289372 Electric cigarette lighters FEDTRO Inc 12 June 1970 [2 March 1970] 28531/70 Heading F4F A cigarette lighter comprises a housing 10 having a top opening surrounded by a ring 12 for exposing a cigarette lighting element 16, the element being supplied with electric power from a power source positioned externally of the housing by an electric supply lead 20 and being supported on pillows 28 which extend from a base member 34 of the housing; posts 38, situated adjacent the top opening, separate the element from the housing, the space between the pillars and posts forming a heat dissipation space. Current is supplied to the lighting element 16 by depressing a contact actuator 18 which pushes a moving contact 25 into engagement with a stationary contact 26, thus closing the electric circuit. The element 16 is provided with a protective cover 14 provided with holes 15 for heat dissipation and preferably formed from mica. The element 16 is placed on a ceramic support 30 and is held in position on top of the pillars 28 by the posts 38 bearing on an element encircling ring 32, the ring 32 resting in indentations on the pillars. The housing 10 and the ring 12 are preferably formed from a plastics material and metal respectively.
