Abstract

1288523 Hinge F R GLADWIN 10 March 1971 6440/71 Heading E2F A tiltable cover assembly comprises a plate secured to the cover, and a support secured to a member to be covered including a bearing surface and two stops. As shown, the plate comprises an inverted triangular shaped plate 15 arranged perpendicular to the axis of tilting and secured at the rear of the cover by screws 16. The plate 15 is formed with a forwardly and downwardly sloping rear edge 17, the front edge has a upper downwardly and rearwardly sloped portion 18 continuing into a horizontal step portion 19 and then a lower downwardly and rearwardly sloped portion 20, providing a support point 21 which rests on a support member 22. A stop 23 on support member 22 normally engages portion 18 of the plate 15, and a rear stop channel 25 is secured either to support member 22 or to rear wall 12 not in contact with the plate 15. When the cover is lifted and held at an angle of 45‹, the stop point 24 engages the step portion 19 of the plate and the rear stop ledge 26 engages with the rear end of plate 15.
