Abstract

1287862 Making electrical connections AMP Inc 20 April 1971 [19 May 1970] 10303/71 Heading B3Q A holder 40 for supporting, from an elongated member 6, a splicing tool 42 adjacent the ends of cables 2, 3 comprises an arm 92 adjustablysecured to a clamp 100, for fixing the holder to the member 6, and to a fixture 65 for holding the tool 42. The clamp 100 has a hexagonal pin 96 carrying a block 64<SP>1</SP> to which the arm 92 is fixed by a stirrup clamp 66<SP>1</SP> operated by a screw 68<SP>1</SP>. A hexagonal pin (76), Fig. 3 (not shown), at the lower end of the arm mounts indexably a block 64 and stirrup clamp 66 for securing the crimping tool 42. This includes a pivoted jaw 54 operated by a handle 56 forming part of a toggle linkage. A shear blade 50 on the jaw 44 enters a wire-receiving slot 52 in the tool head 44. Clamps 18 for the ends of the cables are spaced by a top bar 24 and a base 12 carried by brackets and to which are pivoted clamps 36 for securing a cover (32), Fig. 4 (not shown).
