Abstract

1287606 Sound-insulating laminated partitions ELEKTROAKUSZTIKAI GYAR 25 Sept 1969 [30 Sept 1968] 47342/69 Heading B5N [Also in Division El] A double-walled light structural element for sound insulating partitions comprises two metal plates of different thicknesses not exceeding 3 mm. each arranged parallel to each other with a layer of viscoelastic plastics foam having open pores of minimum thickness 10 mm. and a minimum specific flow resistance of 0À5 x 10<SP>4</SP> N see m<SP>-3</SP> shaped to fit the circumference of the metal plates arranged between and attached to the metal plates, the metal plates being fitted with one to four bracing members per metre of length of the element arranged parallel to one edge of one of the metal plates, the total mass of the bracing members being three tenths to one half of that of the metal plates. The edges of the metal plates may be bent in a plane perpendicular to the plate plane throughout in the same sense or at selected portions in the opposite sense, the bent edges being provided with perforations for the admission of attaching elements to secure and connect the structural elements together. The foam may be of polyester material and may be bonded to the metal plates, e.g. of iron, by means of an artificial-rubber-based glue.
