Abstract

1287498 Two-part couplings SIEMENS AG 29 Sept 1970 [30 Sept 1969] 46141/70 Heading H2E An assembly suitable for the plug-in connection of an electrical component comprises two insulating members which can be arranged one above the other to form a unit, the lower one having locations for socket connection elements and a space for accommodating and guiding wiring for the socket elements, and the upper one having a cavity for accommodating the component and openings aligned with the socket elements for guiding the plug elements of the component. A connecting panel can comprise a plurality of such assemblies with the lower members mounted in rows of windows in a metal base plate by spring interlocking means. Adjacent assemblies may interlock by snap action. Advantageously, as shown for a connecting panel, the plurality of lower members and upper members each consist of single units 1 and 2 which in use can be screwed together through holes 19 or otherwise interlock. Socket elements 3 are connected to the ends of wires 13 led from duct 7 through slots 8 in the walls of member 1 to interior spaces 6 and are readily inserted in cavities 4, slot 5 being provided for the wires. Certain socket elements 15 have tags 16 extending through member 1 to make soldered connection to printed circuit board 17 whose conductor paths are connected to blade terminals 18 which can extend through openings 10 in member 1. Some socket elements 3 are clipped on to blades 18 and the commonly connected elements may for example supply current to illuminated keys. Duct 7 as shown is screwed on to the assembly and has a hinged lid 9. Two wires 25 are shown as being connectable to other equipment e.g. a telephone station. Member 2 has cavities 12 accommodating guide extensions 22 on keys 21 the contact blades 23 of which pass through slots 11 aligned with socket elements 3. Slots 11 open into cavities in member 2 which fit over socket elements 3 and aid in aligning the two members. Attachment openings 20 are provided in member 2 aligned with openings in member 1. Lattice-like cover 24 aids in holding keys 21 in position.
