Abstract

1287313 Feeding explosive charges INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE DES CARBURANTS ET LUBRIFIANTS 7 Oct 1970 [10 Oct 1969] 47689/70 Heading F3A [Also in Division H4] A device for feeding a sub-marine explosion generator (not shown) with seismic explosive charges 6 comprises a magazine 4 slidable on a slideway 3 to align separate compartments 5 with a port 31 through which the explosive charges can pass into a charging tube 1 for the generator, a reciprocating shaft 12 and catch 14 for advancing the magazine in a stepwise manner, and a rocker 16 for locking the magazine in position between the periods of displacement. The catch and rocker engages lugs or recesses provided on the magazine. The shaft 12 is reciprocated by means of a crank mechanism 10 and 11 and is connected with lost-motion coupling to the rocker 16; this is achieved by means of loop engaging pins 164 and 101. In use, when the shaft 12 is moved to the right the catch 14 slides along the bottom of the magazine and snaps into engagement with a rearward lug or a wall of a recess in the magazine. At this point the rocker is also actuated so that arm 162 engages the magazine in place of the arm 161. When the shaft moves to the left, the rocker arm disengages the magazine which is then advanced by the catch 14 until the rocker arm 161 snaps into engagement with the magazine in the aligned position of a loaded compartment 5 and the port 31. The operation is then repeated. Sequential opening and closing of a gate 8 and introduction of fluid through a tube 9 to drive the explosive charge along the charg. ing tube is described in Specification 1,137,660-
