Abstract

1287018 Windscreen wiper blades I K ROSEN 16 Nov 1970 [26 Jan 1970] 54337/70 Heading A4F A windscreen wiper element 31 has an elongated cavity 33 extending therethrough and around an integral buttress projection 32, and integral hinges 38 are provided in the side walls of the cavity. The hinges 38 allow deformation of the element 31 during the wiping operation whilst the buttress 32 limits such deformation. The wiping lip 37 is substantially of wedge shape with short edges at the base. Other embodiments comprise (a) two buttresses 26 Fig.2 (not shown) or (b) a buttress 54 Fig. 5 (not shown) of rounded cross-section depending into the cavity in the same manner as in Fig.3A or (c) a buttress 42 Fig. 4 (not shown) projecting from the cavity wall opposite that having the buttress 32 Fig.3A.
