Abstract

1286684 Tyre cords UNIROYAL Inc 15 Dec 1969 [23 Dec 1968 6 May 1969] 60931/69 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3] An adhesive for sticking tyre fabric to rubber comprises (a) formaldehyde, (b) a natural or synthetic rubber and (c) a condensate of a polyhydric phenol, 0À15-0À45 mols. per phenolic hydroxy group of formaldehyde and 1-15% of a tris-(2-hydroxyalkyl) isocyanurate. The rubber may be a latex of a copolymer of butadiene, vinyl pyridine and styrene, the formaldehyde formalin, the phenol resorcinol and the isocyanurate tris - (2 - hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate. The textile may be rayon, nylon, polyethylene terephthalate or glass. It may be dipped in the adhesive, heated and laminated on to the tyre rubber which is then vulcanized. The tyre rubber may comprise natural rubber, reclaimed rubber, oil-extended styrene/butadiene rubber, carbon black, stearic acid, zinc oxide, acetonediphenylamine antioxidant, benzothiazol disulphide accelerator, diphenyl guanidine accelerator and sulphur.
