Abstract

1286462 Stators for dynamo-electric machines JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 28 Aug 1969 [13 Sept 1968 14 Jan 1969] 43577/68 and 2193/69 Heading H2A A stator assembly for a dynamo-electric machine comprises a tubular sheet-metal casing 31 carrying a number of poles, each of which is formed by two sheet-metal parts 36 which together define a space in which a winding 38 is trapped. The sheet metal parts 33 (Fig. 2) comprise arcuate yoke members with inwardly-extending pole-constituting portions 34, and the parts 36 comprise strips which overly the portions 34 and have extensions 36a defining the winding space. The sheet metal parts 33 are positioned by engagement of notches 35 with projections 32 on the casing, and portions 31a of the casing are deformed into the recesses formed in the radially-outer surfaces of the parts 33 by the pressing out of pole parts 34, thus increasing the thickness of magnetic material at the poles. The assembly is impregnated with varnish.
