Abstract

1286352 Releasable fastenings SCHEMA Ltd 31 July 1970 37148/70 Heading E2A A pivoted fastener is mounted in resilient bearings and has cam surfaces which cause it to snap between stable fastening and releasing positions. In the gate catch shown in Fig. 1, the catch-bolt 7 is of C-shape and is pivoted by trunnions 13 in bearings 10 of a plastics base 6 so that it may engage a striker plate 2. The cams 12 engage platforms 11 on the base to give a two-position stability, i.e. when faces 14a or 14b engage the platforms 11, the hooks 10 being resilient to accommodate the movement. The case hasp 18 shown in Figs. 3, 4, has trunnions 27 in resilient bearing hooks 25 and snap action is achieved by cam surfaces 33a, 33b. In the fastening position, an abutment surface 28b engages a keeper 21 the head 36 of which is pressed down to release.
