Abstract

1285202 Dry cells EVER READY CO (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd A K AGOPSOWICZ and F L TYE 15 Oct 1969 50751/69 Heading HlB In a Leclanche, dry cell not more than 90% of the depolarizer lies outside the cathodic current collector or between the cathodic current collector and the zinc container, the cathodic current collector being of carbon and lying within the depolarizer. The cathodic current collector may be an electrolyte-permeable carbon body or cage 8 conforming to the shape of the zinc container (Fig. 6) and made of apertured carbon or a carbonized textile. Otherwise the current collector may be a plurality of carbon rods so disposed in the depolarizer that not more than 90% of the depolarizer is formed of infinitessimal elements in which the lines joining any point to the nearest points on the current collector and the container enclose an obtuse angle. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 where the current collector comprises four parallel-connected, parallel carbon rods 4 the depolarizer in the area B does not lie between the current collector and the container.
