Abstract
1285201 Detecting incorrectly filled containers; liquid level indication BARRY-WEHMILLER Ltd 15 Oct 1970 [15 Oct 1969] 50717/69 Headings G1A and G1H A modification of the bottle sorting apparatus disclosed in 1228815 and for detecting incorrectly filled transparent bottles or containers comprises a projector 2 projecting a light beam to impinge upon a bottle or container 12 at a predetermined level and a photo-electric device 6 mounted behind the bottle or container 12, the photo-electric device having an active area whose outer margin just fails to intercept the beam when the container is not filled to said predetermined level, see solid lines, Fig.1, but the area is large enough so that the beam will always impinge thereon when the container is filled to above said predetermined level see dotted lines on Fig.1. A rotating disc 8 having a slot in it and placed as shown enables the detector 6 to discriminate between ambient light and that light refracted from the bottle.
