1285064 Vibratory finishing WILLIAM BOULTON Ltd 7 Sept 1970 [18 Sept 1969] 46002/69 Heading B3D A vibro-gyrating mill comprises an annular chamber 7 having an inclined floor, means 8 for subjecting the chamber to oscillation about a vertical axis with an upward and downward component to cause a charge of workpieces and media in the chamber to progress and ascend the floor, a high level discharge unit 22 spaced from the upper end of the floor, and a sieve or screen member 20 slidably movable between an inoperative position in which the charge may fall from the upper to the lower end of the floor and an operative position in which the member 20 bridges the gap between the upper end of the floor and the discharge unit. The chamber 7 is supported by springs 6 from a stand 5 and has vibration imparted to it by weights 15, 16 on the shaft 14 of a motor 8. The floor of the chamber is inclined from a lower end 7a to a higher end 7b which is spaced from an inclined ramp of the discharge unit 22 leading to an outlet 23. The member 20 is movable between its operative and inoperative positions by pneumatic devices and is perforated so that, when the member is in its operative position, the treating media can drop to the lower end of the floor while the work. pieces are discharged.
