1284148 Treating porous ceramic coatings CORNING GLASS WORKS 20 April 1970 [29 April 1969] 18655/70 Heading B2E An article, e.g. an electrical resistor, having a porous ceramic coating is provided with a moisture repellant layer by impregnating the pores of the ceramic coating with a non- aqueous solution of a 1 to 95% by volume of methyl and/or ethyl hydrogen polysiloxane in a volatile solvent, evaporating the solvent and curing the polysiloxane to form a thin layer of a polysiloxane/ceramic molecular complex of the pore walls. Catalysts e.g. zinc octate may be incorporated to promote the cure.
