Abstract
1284121 Polymerisation catalysts MITSUBISHI CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 4 July 1969 [10 July 1968] 33960/69 Heading B1E [Also in Divisions Cl and C3] A catalyst component comprising a cocrystallisate containing titanium, vanadium and aluminium is produced by reducing a mixture of a titanium compound and a vanadium compound with an organoaluminium compound at a temperature within the range of -50‹ to 300‹C in an inert solvent. The component is used in association with an organoaluminium compound in the polymerisation of α-olefines. The organoaluminium compound used in the reduction and as the second catalyst component may be of the formula AIR n X 3-n in which R is a hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 14 carbon atoms, X is a halogen atom (or an alkoxy group in the case of the second component), and n is an integer of 1 to 3 or 1.5. Many suitable titanium, vanadium and aluminium compounds and solvents for the preparation of the cocrystallised component are specified.
