Abstract
1284110 Cuprous chloride NORDDEUTSCHE AFFINERIE 5 Dec 1969 [11 Dec 1968] 59624/69 Heading C1A Cuprous chloride is produced in a continuous process by reacting metallic copper with gaseous chlorine in a melt of Cu 2 Cl 2 and/or CuCl 2 at a temperature of 5-700‹ C., the molten product being passed through a permeable layer of metallic copper. Metallic copper is preheated and added to the reaction mixture at such a rate that it does not project above the top of the melt and chlorine is added via a diffuser at the bottom of the melt.
