Abstract

1283942 Stud and socket fastening F T PRODUCTS Ltd 30 June 1970 [3 July 1969] 33695/69 Heading E2B A fastening 10, for attaching a moulding 23 to a support 24, has a head 13, a skirt 12, and shank 11 and is made from synthetic plastics material. The head is provided with inclined walls 19, 20 and with a pair of walls, each of which extends at right angles to the walls 19, 20 and has a lug 21 or 22, Fig. 4, projecting outwardly therefrom. The skirt 12, Fig. 5 is flexible and serves as a seal. The shank 11 has shoulders 17, 18 and is formed with slots 14, 15 and 16 which facilitate its resiliency. In use a number of fastenings are pushed into apertures 25 formed in the support 24 so that the shoulders 17, 18 of the fastenings engage the support as shown in Fig. 5. If it is desired that the moulding is attached to the support 24 so that the moulding is adjustable in a lengthwise direction, then the fastenings are positioned so that the walls 19, 20 thereof are engaged by flanges 26, 27 of the moulding 23, the latter being forced over the heads of the fastenings and then resiliently gripping the respective walls 19 or 20. If it is desired to locate the moulding 23 in a lengthwise direction, then at least one of the lugs 21a, 22a, Fig. 6, are received in slots 29, 30 respectively formed in the flanges 26, 27 of the moulding 23.
