Abstract

1283531 Folding apparatus LINOTYPE & MACHINERY Ltd 2 Sept 1969 [18 June 1968] 28889/68 Heading B8R A rotary folder is adapted to be operated in a "collect" or "non-collect" condition depending upon the setting of an adjustable cam 7. For "non-collect" operation, Fig. 3, cam 7 is clamped against stop 6 and in this position it operates the picker pins on cutting rubber cylinder 3 but holds the pins of knife cylinder 2 inoperative. Thus a printed web 1 from former plate 15 is carried around on the pins of cylinder 3 which are retracted by a further, fixed, cam 9 as the web is tucked into a jaw of folding cylinder 10 and severed by a knife on cylinder 2. For "collect" operation, Fig. 2, cam 7 is free to be oscillated by a cam (not shown) about a pivot pin (12, Fig. 1, not shown). Thus a web is first held by pins on cylinder 2 while the pins of cylinder 3 are inoperative and is then cut and transferred to. the pins of cylinder 3 while the pins of cylinder 2 are inoperative. A double thickness of web is thus accumulated on cylinder 3, severed and tucked into cylinder 10.
