Abstract

Feeding webs.-Mechanism for guiding and transversely stretching a fabric web in bleaching, dyeing, finishing, or other machines consists of three guiding-rollers or sets of disks at each edge of the fabric, the position of the rollers being regulated by the direct action of levers engaging and actuated by the edges of the fabric. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2. an upper roller or set of disks and two co-operating lower rollers or sets of disks 2<a> are carried bv a bracket 3 fixed to a rod 4 mounted to turn in fixed brackets a, a<1>. A bracket 8 fixed to the rod 4 is provided with a pin 7 engaging a slot 6 in a bell-crank lever 5, the longer arm of which is held in engagement with one edge of the fabric by a weight 5<a> on the shorter arm. A similar apparatus is provided at the opposite edge of the fabric. When the fabric deviates from its central path, the levers 5 are moved and turn the brackets 3 in a direction to cause the rollers to return the fabric to its correct path. The rollers may be set initially at any desired angle to the edges of the fabric. In another form, Fig. 5, the lower rollers 2<a> are carried by a bracket 3 which, by means of quadrant slots and fixing-bolts, is adjustably fixed at a suitable angle to the edge of the fabric, and the upper roller 2 is carried by a bracket 3<a> slidable vertically and secured to a rod 14 ccnnected by a pin 7 and slot 6 to the feeler lever 5. When the fabric deviates, the movement of the lever 5 raises or lowers the rod 14, and the pressure of the roller 2 on the fabric is decreased or increased to restore the fabric to its normal path.
