1283216 Flexible hose or tube COMPOFLEX CO Ltd 30 Sept 1970 [28 Aug 1969] 42981/69 Addition to 1175042 Heading F2P A flexible hose or tube comprises a seamless plastics inner lining 1 having parallel internal and external corrugations 2 in planes perpendicular to the tube axis, a plastics material or compound layer 4 filling the outer corrugations, at least one other layer on layer 4, and at least one reinforcing layer within the tube but outside the inner lining. A reinforcing layer 3 is embedded in layer 4 and another reinforcing layer 6 is embedded in an outer layer 5. The inner lining 1 is extruded with the corrugations 2 formed by travelling half moulds at the mouth of the extruder and is of P.V.C., polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon, any derivative of P.T.F.E. capable of being screw extruded, P.V.C./nitrile, polyvinyl acetate, A.B.S., E.V.A., silicone elastomer, a mixture of polyolefines and E.V.A., fluoro-ethylene-propylene or polyurethane. The corrugations 2 may be rounded or of sawtooth profile and may be uniform or varying in pitch. The inner lining may be braided with cotton or wire or a braid 3 of plastics material. The layer 4 is of plasticized P.V.C., or E.V.A. copolymer, or P.V.C./nitrile, or polyurethane, or thermoplastic rubbers, and is applied to the braid 3 in sheet or strip form and is extruded or spirally wound. The outer layer 5 is of rubber, synthetic rubber, polyethylene, P.V.C., polypropylene, E.V.A., polyurethane, polyurethane foam, silicone elastomer, a mixture of polyolefines with or without E.V.A., P.V.C. foam, or fluoroethylene propylene. The reinforcing layers 3, 6 are of cotton, wire, plastics or elastomer braid, stockinette knitting, or circular woven fabric, circumferential wires, strings, filaments or synthetic or natural fibres in the form of braid. The outer layer 5 may be encased in a fabric layer reinforced by helical plastics or metal wire.
