Abstract

1282554 Coated polyolefin films ADHESIVE TAPES Ltd 20 June 1969 [22 July 1968 6 Dec 1968] 34863/68 and 58059/68 Heading B2E [Also in Division B5] An adhesive tape comprises a film of a linear polyolefin, e.g. polypropylene, coated with an adhesive which is preferably a tackified rubbery polymer such as a natural rubber, a butadiene polymer or a low molecular weight acrylic polymer, the film having been extruded from an olefin polymer containing 0.1-10 wt% of inert particles, e.g. of a mineral filler, and having been stretched before solidification. Before coating, the surface of the film may be oxidised, chemically or by corona discharge, and given a key coating, e.g. of a curable isocyanate polyester. The adhesive coating is then applied from solution or emulsion.
