1282547 Hand tools G W PETERS 8 May 1970 [1 April 1970] 15321/70 Heading B4W [Also in Division B3] An adjustable wrench or spanner comprises a body 1 having a jaw surface 2, a sliding member 7 having a jaw surface 9 and being constrained to move at an inclination to the longitudinal axis of the body and a pull member 14 connected e.g. pivotably, to the sliding member and engaging a rotatable screwthreaded member e.g. a collar 11, which abuts the body and controls movement of the pull member and the sliding member. Blocks 3 and 4 form guide means for the sliding member and a spring 19 biases the jaw surface 9 to an open position. A wire handle 18 is pivot. able on the collar 11.
