Abstract

1282433 Display-print device MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 15 Oct 1969 [16 Oct 1968] 50695/69 Heading G2A The image on the screen 22 of a cathode ray tube 20 is reflected from a fixed mirror 24 through a lens assembly 50, from where it is either projected directly on to a viewing screen 70, or reflected from a mirror 30, which can be pivoted into the light path, on to a sheet of light-sensitive paper at an exposure station 84. The paper is of the heat-developable type, and passes on to a heating station 86, and then out of the apparatus. The paper is supplied from a roll 82 and the exposed length is cut off by a knife 88. The movable mirror assembly 30 is shown in more detail in Fig. 3. It comprises a beam 32 pivoted to the housing, an arm 36 pivoted to the beam and resiliently connected to it by a bolt-spring assembly 38. The mirror 34 itself is fixed to the beam 32. Movement of the mirror is controlled by a motor 40, which drives a shaft 62 carrying an arm 63 having a roller 64 at its end. The roller engages in a channel 65 in arm 36, and so pivots the assembly 30 from the full line position to the broken line position, and vice versa. When the motor is switched on to effect this movement, the cathode ray tube is automatically shut off, and is switched on again only when the mirror has become stationary either in its raised or lowered position.
