Abstract

1282375 Removing dust from running webs FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 17 Nov 1970 [18 Nov 1969] 54695/70 Heading F4X In apparatus for removing dust from the surface of a running web 1 on to which an emulsion layer is to be applied, the web is passed through a washing stage A wherein a fountain discharges washing liquid on to the web in a direction opposite to the running direction of the web. The web is then passed through a liquid removing stage B wherein jets of compressed air discharged through slits 11 serve to remove washing liquid from the web, the discharged air together with the mist so produced being exhausted through an evacuation chamber 12. The dust-free web is thereafter fed through a coating stage C where, for example, a photosensitive emulsion layer may be applied to the web at 13. Dust-laden washing liquid leaving the web in stage A is passed into a reservoir 4 from whence it is circulated by way of a pump 5 and filter 6 back into the washing device 2 for re-use. The compressed air is supplied to the slits 11 from a blower 8 through a filter 9.
