Abstract

1282323 Steam generators WAAGNEBBIRO AG 24 July 1969 [25 July 1968] 37372/69 Heading F4A A self-supporting steam generator which comprises drums 12, 13 resting on a foundation structure 18 and connected by evaporator tubes 5, has tubular heating surfaces 2, 3, 4, 6 the disposition of the tubes of which substantially repeat throughout the length of the drums in boiler cross-sections transverse of the drums, and is provided with walls 8, 9, formed by some of the tubes 5, to guide heating gases to flow upwardly and downwardly and transversely in planes of these boiler cross-sections, control tubes of the evaporator 5 being of larger diameter and of greater wall thickness than the remaining evaporator tubes. The walls 8, 9 have fins which connect to form walls extending across the width of the boiler, the fins being omitted at certain points of the walls for passage of gases therethrough. A radiation shield 26 stiffened by tubes 21 protects the final part of heating surface 2 (superheater) from the direct radiation from the furnace 1. Combustion gases pass to an air heater 19 through which incoming air passes via a space 14 to oil burners 16. The tubes of the evaporator 5 are connected by horizontal vertically spaced stays (24), Fig. 2 (not shown). Additional support for the generator is provided by a support 17.
