Abstract

1281329 Electron beam magnetic deflecting apparatus RCA CORPORATION 10 July 1970 [24 July 1969] 33540/70 Heading H1D In a colour television tube of the shadow mask type, misconvergence of the beams at the corners is avoided by using a deflection yoke comprising two pairs of saddle coils the coils of at least one pair each being provided with taps so that the geometrically centre turns may be unconnected and the outer sets of turns connected in series. The coils may be wound from a single strand or from a plurality of strands of wire, and one example for 110 degrees deflection uses 47 turns of eight strands of wire with taps at the 25th and 27th turns. The tapped portion may be moved towards or away from the central " window " in the coil to compensate for the effects of different arbors used in winding or to control the effects of astigmatism and coma.
