Abstract
1353623 Electron beam deflection systems RCA CORPORATION 27 May 1971 [3 June 1970] 17486/71 Addition to 1299491 Heading H1D A toroidally wound deflection yoke for providing beam deflection in a multi-beam colour TV picture tube (e.g. delta array) while maintaining substantial convergence over the raster comprises an annular core and a pair of orthogonally acting beam deflection windings symmetrically disposed about respective axes of symmetry, each winding comprising in each quadrant a first winding portion from the related axis of symmetry through a predetermined angular segment (e.g. # 1H ), a second winding portion extending through another angular segment (e.g. # 2H ), and a third winding portion extending through an annular segment (# 3H -# 4H ) angularly separated from that occupied by the second winding portion and disposed in the separation between second and third winding portions of the other windings. Convergence and registration can be maintained while ensuring minimum coma. Figs. 1 to 6 are as in the parent Specification 1,299,491 and a detailed theoretical treatment is included. Conductor 34C (Fig. 7) is at the coma invariant angle. Reference is made to shadow mask tubes.
