1281171 Apparatus for heat treating sheet material DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 16 Feb 1970 [19 Feb 1969 26 March 1969] 8973/69 and 15696/69 Heading B1X [Also in Divisions C3 and D1] A device for heat treating foams and fabrics comprises platens 10, 11 and reciprocable barrier 16 which is moved towards the opposing platen to seal off the gas inlet port 15 prior to ignition of the gas in the foam or fabric by spark plug 17. The barrier 16 may be in the form of an eccentric roller. The foam or fabric can be fed into the ignition zone by raising the upper platen 10 and rotating rollers 14. The gas inlet port 15 may be of porous metal, when reverse diffusion of the gas can be prevented by a transverse projection in the upper platen. The gas is ignited.
