Abstract

1281103 Valves CHRISTIAN BURKERT BAU ELEKTRISCHER GERATE GmbH 3 April 1970 [5 April 1969] 15840/70 Heading F2V. A multi-way spool valve is adapted for different operations by changing end covers 10 or the sealing elements 12, 14 contained therein. Each cover 10 and plates 13, 11 holding the sealing elements therein are formed with passages and apertures respectively which are selectively connected to four longitudinal bores (not shown) in the valve housing 1 by an arrangement of apertures in the sealing elements. Different sealing elements have different arrangements of apertures to permit different connections. As shown, a smaller spool piston 6 is continuously biased by pressure fluid supplied by a longitudinal housing bore connected by apertures (25), (31) in the sealing element 14 and plate 11 to a passage (21) in the cover 10 which passage communicates with central apertures (32), 9 in the sealing element 14 and plate 11. A larger spool piston 5 is actuated by pressure fluid supplied through cover passage 18 and apertures (36), 35 in the sealing element 12 and plate 13 under the control of pilot or relay valve 17. The longitudinal housing bore supplying pressure fluid connects via apertures (31), (25) in the sealing element 12 and plate 13 with cover passage 21 which in turn communicates with the valve 17. A second longitudinal housing bore communicates with a return line and with a passage (22) in the cover via apertures (37), (26) in the sealing element 12 and plate 13. The valve 17 connects the passage 18 either to the pressure supply passage 21 or the return passage (22) in order to actuate the spool 7. Piston 6 may be spring-biased.
