Abstract
1281006 Coated carbon granules POST OFFICE 2 Jan 1970 [26 Nov 1968] 56033/68 Heading C1A Carbon granules are processed by mixing with a quantity of dry powder lubricant the particles of which are softer than the carbon granules and agitating the mixture for a time sufficient to bring about partial coating of some of the granules. The carbon granules may be initially heated to 1000-1400‹ C. and cooled. The powder lubricant may have non-hydrophobic properties, may be an insulator and may have sub-micron particle size. The quantity of powder lubricant used may be in the range 0À05 to 0À1% of the weight of the carbon granules. Suitable lubricants specified are silica, having a specific surface of substantially 200 square metres per gram, talc and felspar.
