Abstract
1280962 Seat adjustments SUSPA FEDERUNGSTECHNIK GmbH 11 Jan 1971 [31 Jan 1970] 1158/71 Heading A4J A chair with a seat member 1 and a back-rest 2, both adjustable, has latching devices for holding these members in desired positions and a single control lever, positioned for operation by an occupant of the chair, for releasing the latching devices selectively. In the form shown the seat is pivoted at 17 to a member 5 secured to the shaft 7 of a pneumatic spring 11, for height adjustment, rotatable in a base tube 10. All the adjustments are released by different movements of a control lever 3 pivotally mounted at 15 by a transverse stem loosely engaging a hole in the member 5 and having an upturned end (29), Figs.2 and 4 (not shown). The shaft 7 is released by depression of a pin sliding in its head by downward movement of the inner end of the control lever stem. The seat is held at the desired inclination by a transversely-sliding pin (21) in the member 5 engaging one of several holes in a depending flange 19 of the seat; the pin is withdrawn by a cam surface on the tail of a lever (25) when the latter is actuated by upward movement of the inner end of the control lever stem. The back-rest 2 is carried by a post 42 slidable in a boss at the end of an arm 37 slidable horizontally in the base of the seat member 1, each of the members 42, 37 being held in position by pins such as 44 engaging one of a series of holes such as 43. The pin 44 holding the post 42 is released by a cable 45 attached to a lever (47) which is actuated by the upturned end of the control lever stem when the lever is rocked anti-clockwise, and the pin holding the bar 37 is withdrawn by a lever (31) actuated when the control lever is moved clockwise. A switch controlling a counter-fatigue vibrator may be closed by longitudinal movement of the control lever stem against a return spring. The movements of the control lever stem may be guided by a cross- or star-shaped gate.
