1280001 Preparing amylitol HAYASHIBARA CO 19 June 1969 [19 June 1968] 31139/69 Heading C3U A process for preparing amylitol comprises dissolving in water, by heating, amylose obtained from amylopectin of a starch by treating the amylopectin with an α-1,6-glucosidase to cause selective hydrolysis of the α-1,6-glucoside bonds of the amylopectin, adding a nickel catalyst to the aqueous amylose solution, and then effecting reduction of the amylose by the introduction of hydrogen at a temperature of not more than 100‹ C. and at a pressure of up to 100 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP>.
