Abstract

1279572 Electric couplings A REINING- HAUS 14 Jan 1970 [24 Jan 1969] 1827/70 Heading H2E In lighting apparatus, a socket into which a connecting-box supporting a lamp can be plugged comprises a preferably metal base-plate 26 (Fig. 6) and an insulating cover 27 having a rectangular recess 37 with a pair of slots in each of the two longer side walls, one slot of each pair receiving a retaining tongue 17 or (20) (Fig. 7, not shown) when a shouldered head portion 15 of the connection box is inserted, and the other slots permitting contact tongues 18 (19) (Fig. 7, not shown) to reach contact-plates 31 behind the slots, the contact plates being electrically connected to terminals on insulator 29 by conductors 30. As shown, contact plates 31 with solder tags 31a are fixed to the sides of block 32 on base-plate 26 and are diagonally offset, as are two retaining plates 33 each with a retaining slot 34 towards their tops. The retaining and connecting tongues are inserted into their slots by rotation of knob 38 which actuates a cam. The connection box also has an earthing tongue (16) (Fig. 7, not shown) which contacts earthing plate 35 on block 32 as the connection box is inserted.
