Abstract

1279514 Thermal cracking MITSUI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 16 July 1970 [18 July 1969] 34422/70 Heading C5E Hydrocarbons are thermally cracked to gaseous olefins by spouting hydrocarbon feedstock and diluent through nozzles 1 into a molten metal heat carrier contained in a reaction tower 2, the products of the cracking passing to a quenching tower 9, containing a bed of solid grains or of heavy oils to separate cracked coke from the gaseous products. The molten metal may be Pb, Sn, Zn, Bi,. Cd or an alloy thereof. The solid grains may be sand kept in fluidized motion at 200-600‹ C;
