Abstract

1278429 Sight testing device CARL ZEISS STIFTUNG [trading as CARL ZEISS] 6 Aug 1969 [9 Aug 1968] 39386/69 Heading G2J A device for determining suitable spectacle lenses includes a spherical lens system comprising at least two single lens components one of which is axially adjustable to give variable vertex powers one or more of the lens components being exchangeable for selecting a certain range of vertex power, the device being combined with adjustable cylindrical and prismatic systems. The lens components are arranged in slip-on mountings 22-26 which are supported on a construction unit 21 attached to a supporting beam 19 which is in turn connected through a construction unit 15 to a movable sleeve 13 on a forehead support 10, the attached side members 11 forming part of a frame being either of the open or closed type. In a modification designed to relieve pressure on a patient, the unit holding the mountings may be suspended and balanced in position or may be supported on an instrument column. The device is suitable for use in combination with a device for the subjective determination of the visual qualities of the eye as described in Specification 865361.
