Abstract

1278213 Deuterated ammonia COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 13 Oct 1970 [15 Oct 1969] 48531/70 Addition to 1076700 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C2 and G1] Deuterated ammonia is prepared by allowing deuterium oxide to fall drop by drop on to magnesium nitride. Ammonia is evolved in a highly exothermic reaction, and mixed with water vapour is passed into a column loaded with magnesium nitride and then into two columns loaded with barytes to remove residual water. The ammonia is then condensed in a cold trap.
