1276676 Carrying liquefied gas TECHNIGAZ 3 June 1969 [28 June 1968 24 Dec 1968] 28101/69 Heading B7A [Also in Divisions F2 and F4] The self-supporting spherical or horizontal cylindrical wall 1, Fig. 1, of a cold liquefied gas storage container has a plurality of outwardly horizontal extending brackets 4 rigidly secured thereto at spaced intervals in the mean horizontal plane 3 of the container and each bracket 4 is pivotally coupled at two outwardly spaced points 10, 12 to fixed support means 15 whereby thermal movement of the container is accommodated. The coupling means may comprise links 8, 9 pivoted at 10, 12 to bracket 4 and at 11, 13 to a bar 7 which in turn is pivotal at 14 to the bracket 15 which is secured to a foundation 16. Links 8, 9 are thus under compression and tension respectively. In a modification spaced idler rollers 22, 23, Fig. 4, carried by and on lower and upper sides of bracket 4 bear on fixed tracks 24, 25. The tracks may form horizontal arms of a downwardly inclined beam (31), Fig. 5 (not shown), pivoted at its lower end to the foundation bracket (15<SP>1</SP>). In a further modification the links 8, 9, Fig. 12, extend upwardly from arm 4 to the bar 7 which in turn is pivotally suspended from the bracket 15 secured to a ship's plate 116. The lower half of the container bears on powdered heat insulation material 142 whereas the upper half is sheathed by polyurethane 142<SP>1</SP>. Fig. 6, shows a horizontal cylindrical container 32 supported lengthwise in a ship by supports 2 the brackets 4 of which lie in the mean horizontal plane of the cylinder and the linkages of which are as shown in Fig. 1. Further supports 2a, 2b support the cylinder during rolling and pitching of the ship and stops 40 engage recesses in the ships structure.
