Abstract
127,660. Tresidder, T. J. May 15, 1917. Armour.-A screen or obstacle containing interstices, reticulations, or spaces is fixed to hard-faced armour in contact with, or close to, its surface, with the object of de-capping projectiles without recapping them. Figs. 3 and 4 show one example. Rods e, the ends of which are secured in top and bottom U- shaped frames e<2>, are arranged under rods f disposed at right angles to them and secured in the side U-frames f<2>. The members e<2> have bolted to them plates g, which are riveted or bolted to the armour-plating. In the modification shown in Fig. 8, the rods f are entwined around the rods c. Fig. 9 shows the bars e, f fitted with slots e<4>, f<4> respectively. The rods or bars may be crossed diagonally; or the whole screen may be cast to form a grating, or consist of a wooden or chain mat of steel. A thin plate may be fitted in front of each screen section.
